About Hatfield

Hatfield in Hertfordshire is just 20 minutes from Kings Cross Station, London

Hatfield, Hertfordshire, has a population of around 40,000 and is ideally situated for London (20 miles), Luton Airport (14 miles) and Stansted Airport, also nearby. The A1(M) runs through the town, which is also close to the M25. There is an excellent train service into London King’s Cross.
Although Hatfield was one of the post-war new towns built around London, the settlement is of Saxon origin. Hatfield House, the home of the Marquess of Salisbury, is the nucleus of the old town. From the 1930s, when de Havilland opened a factory, until the 1990s when British Aerospace closed it, Hatfield was associated with aircraft design and manufacture which employed more people than any other industry.
The excellent Galleria Shopping Centre features a replica of a de Havilland DH 88 Comet hanging from its ceiling.
The University of Hertfordshire is based in the town and includes a music venue known as The Forum Hertfordshire which was also used as a location for the music video for Ed Sheeran’s Lego House.
There is also the Mill Green Museum and Watermill, an Art and Design Gallery and The Weston Auditorium (theatre and cinema).
